There are many factors that affect the failure of ball mill liner, which can be divided into the following.
1 Matching between liner and medium
The process of interaction between the media and the liners is a process of mutual friction. It is shown that the wear resistance is proportional to the hardness of the material in a pair of friction pairs, and the difference between the hardness and the wear rate is consistent. Hence, the hardness of the medium and the liners need to match with each other in order to reduce the wear amount of the medium and the liners, thereby saving the cost and improving the economic efficiency. In addition, the large medium size will cause the impact force of the liners and increase the wear of the liners, so the medium size should also be matched with the liners.
2 Material and quality of liner
Liner materials should be selected based on the physical properties of the media materials, structure size and the characteristics of the liner grinding, to select different properties of materials. High manganese steel is a common liner material with which low hardness, but after heat treatment is prone to fracture or plastic deformation. Therefore, in terms of material selection, in addition to pay attention to the toughness of the material, you should also consider how to eliminate the liner internal about the result of casting defects.
3 Design and installation of liners
In order to reduce the consumption of liners and improve the service life of the ball mill liners, the design and installation of the liner should be planned rationally. For example, the fixed liner need to use bolts, but the square bolt holes will lead to the phenomenon of stress concentration in the liners; if the structure of the liner is not consistent with the ball mill inner surface during the installation, the liners will be broken and the ball mill body will be deformed during the operation of the ball mill. Therefore, to guarantee the safe operation of the ball mill, unfavorable factors should be reduced or avoided by ball mill liners design or installation. Rationally adjust the liners structure dimensions and control the liners clearance, after the installation prevent the loosening of bolts and other issues by adjustment.
